Do You Hear the People Sing? -Lafayette St. Players

Lafayette St. Players

PerformingDo You Hear the People Sing?

This will be the final performance at the March Against Monsanto, we invite you to learn the steps and join the performance!

Instructions for participating in flash mob for “Do You Hear the People Sing?”

The song will be repeated a total of four times, learn the words and join in on singing it the with us on the first time and/or the second time through, then on the third time we will march down from wherever we are and be at the lead of the march, with the song being repeated one more time  [EVERYONE singing]  We will have a huge flag waving at the end of the first sing through and it will continue. It would be great if EVERYONE would learn the movements and words and start them in the audience as soon as they feel them.
The performers will be wearing jeans and a red, white or blue t-shirt….attendees are invited to do the same
The signal will be a performer saying into the microphone “everybody sing” at the beginning of the second go-round no matter how many are already singing with us.
Do you hear the people sing?
Singing the song of angry men?
It is the music of the people
Who will not be slaves again!
When the beating of your heart
Echoes the beating of the drums
There is a life about to start
When tomorrow comes!
Will you join in our crusade?
Who will be strong and stand with me?
Beyond the barricade
Is there a world you long to see?
Then join in the fight
That will give you the right to be free!
Do you hear the people sing?
Singing the song of angry men?
It is the music of a people
Who will not be slaves again!
When the beating of your heart
Echoes the beating of the drums
There is a life about to start
When tomorrow comes!
Will you give all you can give
So that our banner may advance
Some will fall and some will live
Will you stand up and take your chance?
The blood of the martyrs
Will water the meadows of France!
Do you hear the people sing?
Singing the song of angry men?
It is the music of a people
Who will not be slaves again!
When the beating of your heart
Echoes the beating of the drums
There is a life about to start
When tomorrow comes!

Weekly Update

Hello Everyone! We have been hard at work planning the Denver March Against Monsanto but wanted to extend a big thanks to Denver and the outpouring of support! As of writing this post 779 people have said they would attend the Denver March Against Monsanto, WOW! That is awesome!!
Many have asked about the location of the march, right now organizers are waiting to hear back from the city about the kind of event we will be permitted to have since there are many competing events downtown that weekend as well as the Memorial Day parade in Civic Center Park that is scheduled for 11:30 that morning. While this makes organizing a bit more complicated it offers us the opportunity to bring awareness to the issue on a large scale.

We still need your help!

We still need cash donations so that we can order flyers and other promotional materials~we even made it easy for you you can donate directly through paypal.
We need volunteers to help with the bake sale. Contact Rachel
We need a weekly meeting space large enough for all volunteers, any ideas? Let us know.

March Against Monsanto- May 25, 2013

It is time to take back our food!

President Obama has given Monsanto immunity with the signing of Senate bill HR 933, affectionately known by opponents as the Monsanto Protection Act. Late Tuesday, March 26th, while most of the country was enthralled in the DOMA debate, provisions were passed, effectively barring federal courts from being able to stop the sale or planting of controversial genetically modified or genetically engineered (GE) seeds, despite what health issues may arise concerning their use in the future. Wrapped in a “farmer-friendly” package, this Monsanto-driven rider is simply a biotech industry ploy to continue to plant GE crops even when a court of law has found they were approved illegally. Families, individuals, and businesses in our community are joining together to take a stand against Monsanto. March Against Monsanto (MAM) educates & advocates for consumers everywhere concerned about the safety of GMOs. MAM events across the world on May 25 amplify the public outcry for labeling of ALL GMO products and symbolize the widespread public opposition to the newly passed US Senate bill, HR 933, the Monsanto Protection Act.
Would you like to help us make a difference? We need people like you to donate time, energy, and experience in a variety of areas. Let’s take back our food!

Please call us today at 720-306-1192 to find out more about how you can help, or send us an email
